Angrim, the last king of the Jotuns took Sethira - a goddess of Shadow - as wife, thinking she would bare him giants impervious to the dwindling curse of his race, but the litter of children she bore were creatures of shadow, like giant Trolloth. Angrim cursed them and determined to slay them, but Sethira placed each in a boat and cast them out to sea.
Upon the ocean the Stygian races of Umbranth nurtured them; and they grew to be giants of Shadow known today as Fleshpounders. Their name is derived from their tendency to smash and crush enemies both in battle and during food preparation.
During times of war, Gray Heralds traverse the mountain valleys blowing their battle horns, and the Fleshpounders descend from the upper slopes, for they know that war means unlimited food and the chance to vent their feral anger.
In battle they are best employed plowing into large units of enemy core troops.
Just the mere sight of the charging behemoth can cause a route due to a failed horror test, and when not, the Fleshpounders lay about them with fists flailing.
Even heavily-armored enemy troops are at risk from the Fleshpounder due to its penchant for squeezing enemies to a pulp inside their armor, causing direct damage which ignores the armor value.
With 32 life-points and good armor, the Fleshpounder can survive most any combat for several turns but beware a charge by enemy elites. |
