The bard is not a mere entertainer, for he carries within his mind the collected history and mythology of several hundred generations. He is the guardian of Annyr cultural heritage.

In times of conflict the Bard may accompany war parties, and his songs are not mere music, since they possess a magical nature, endowing listeners with greater courage and enthusiasm.

His presence inspires warriors to perform great deeds and persevere against overwhelming odds.

At times he may even wade into the thick of battle, armed with a bastard sword which he uses one-handed or two-handed, but the greatest weapons in his arsenal are the lute, harp and bagpipes.
